how-to-make-costa-rican-style-tacos-by-www-bolditup-com

Tacos are a well known food everywhere in the world, we all love them and is an easy and delicious meal.
In Costa Rica, the tacos are not made like the Mexican tacos, these are rolled, fried and accompanied by cabbage with mayo and ketchup.
My mom made some good ones the other day and I took some pictures so I can show you the process.

Tacos ticos

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook Time: 2 hours, 30 minutes

Total Time: 3 hours

Tacos ticos

Ingredients

  • 3-4 pounds beef roast.
  • 20+ Corn Tortillas (I use the big ones, if you can't find those, small ones will work as well)
  • 2 Cabbages.
  • Oregano.
  • 3 Garlic cloves.
  • Salt.
  • Mayonnaise, for serving.
  • Ketchup, for serving.
  • Vegetable oil.
  • Optional Ingredients:
  • -Lizano Sauce., for serving
  • -Guacamole.
  • -Cheese (For melting, like mozarella)
  • -Refried beans.

Instructions

    For the meat:
  1. In a pot, put the roast and fill with water until covers it.
  2. Boil the roast with oregano, garlic and salt.
  3. Bring to boil and simmer until is tender.
  4. Once done, shred the meat and reserve.
  5. For serving:
  6. Shred cabbage and reserve.
  7. For the tortillas:
  8. No matter if they are home made or store bought, they need to be put in heat to make them soft to be able to roll them.
  9. Now, let's make some tacos:
  10. Place the tortilla in a plate or a cutting table, add shredded meat on one of the ends of it.
  11. Roll the tortilla and press it when is done so keeps its shape.
  12. On a skillet, pour 1 inch of vegetable oil and when is hot (like really hot!), put the taco in and leave it until is golden (you might have to turn them if don't want to use a lot of oil).
  13. Use thongs to get it out of the oil. (safety first!)
  14. Place the fried taco in a paper towel to get rid of the excess of oil.
  15. Now, set the taco on a plate, add some shredded cabbage with mayo, ketchup and Salsa Lizano if you feel like an extra Costa Rican flavor.
  16. Enjoy!
  17. Optional:
  18. You can add cheese when rolling the tacos. Also can add refried beans inside or outside of the taco.

My start in film photography

How I Started in Film Photography by www.bolditup.com

You don’t take a photograph, you make it.

Ansel Adams

Happy World Photography Day!

Because I love photography so much and I shot digital for few years, I started shooting in film very recently, going back to the days where you needed to wait until you develop the film by yourself or sent it to the film lab and hope you get some good shots. You haven’t feel adrenaline when you get your pictures back, you are dead!
Because I don’t have a huge budget, my friend Laura Pardo, recommend me the Canon Rebel G, I got one online for $35 with one lens and filter. I was very lucky! I started watching videos about it, and reading a lot, and still I feel like I know nothing (just like Jon Snow ).
How do you learn about film photography? Take pictures! Read, ask questions! -God knows everybody is sick of my questions- but I rather ask and learn than screw my camera and still feel clueless.
Now I am part of some facebook groups where fellow film-lovers like myself, learn about film photography, share their pictures and ask questions (for a newbie like me, this is awesome!).
If you are looking for a workshop to learn how to shoot film, check Embrace the Grain, the fall workshop is starting very soon.

And now let me show you an awesome video for inspiration purposes:
